Mascot
The mascot of Clompish is a small dinosaur - exactly what comes to mind when I say my site's name. This mascot is named Clomps, and brings back memories for me. He's the main inspiration behind the site, and was originally a real-life stuffed animal that my friend gave to me before she moved.History
Around May of 2008, I began to learn HTML coding through the Neopets HTML Guide.
I figured out, around this time, how to make a simple graphic. By simple, I mean an image made in MS Paint, just a cropped picture with text. However ugly everything I made was, I still felt very proud of myself and determined to move forward and get even better.
In August 2008, one of my friends, Madison (Ice Puppy #1), and I made a website. It was named Clomps, after a stuffed animal our friend had given me before she moved (see mascot). My graphics had improved (however slightly) and I now had enough knowledge of HTML and even a bit of CSS to make a site. Our layout wasn't coded by me - I simply took a code from another web and edited it to fit Clomps, by changing the colors and making a new header image and background. If you'd like to see the layout, click here.
Clomps began to grow, and soon it became a website that offered graphics that weren't amazing, but were still a huge improvement from my MS Paint days. I now used paint.NET, and my designing capabilities had improved slightly.
By the time that Clomps closed I was able to make and code website layouts that were actually worth using, and I had full knowledge of CSS and HTML.
In March of 2009, Essence of Insanity was born. You cannot view EOI any longer, and I have lost all control over the website and cannot access any of my information. Essence of Insanity was soon changed to Extract of Insanity, and it flourished for a while.
My graphic and coding capability grew a lot in the switch from Clomps to EOI, and I also learned all about SSI, or Server Side Includes, while running EOI. I wouldn't have closed EOI if it hadn't been for all of the server problems and such, as the site was doing great, but I was forced to give up on EOI and move forward.
In late June/early July of 2009, I created Shattered Faith. It contained most of the same content that EOI did, but it was new and slightly improved.
On July 6th, Shattered Faith's name was changed to Clompish. The name originated from the most common nickname for me on the internet, Clompeh (I was a paranoid young one when I first entered the internet), and the name of my first site - Clomps.
Because I knew my website would be a blog website, and a place to express myself, I figured Clompish would be fitting. The definition of Clompish means "to be or do in the way of Clompeh".
Clompish went on like that for months, from July of 2009 until April 23rd of 2010. It was then that I decided the site had grown much too messy and large to be enjoyable anymore, and I went under a huge revamp.
The site was closed and locked off from public view for a few (long) weeks, in which I used Notepad excessively and spent hours on creating new graphics and designs.
By this point I had also decided that I could use my real name, Haley, on the internet, and was growing away from being called Clompeh.
The site just really needed a good cleanup, so that's exactly what I did. I can't even get across the drastic changes we went under - every single page was deleted, and I went through and re-did them all.
So here I am today, and here Clompish is - the personal outlet of Haley, and a place to come when in need of some resources or graphics.
